The service

What you're actually getting, and why it works.

We do one thing: spraying. No general building, no chasing trades, just an obsessive standard of preparation and a finish that holds up in everyday use.

About Elite Refinishing

What it is

A kitchen respray is the controlled, on-site refinishing of your existing cabinet doors, drawer fronts, end panels and frames using industrial two-pack and water-based coatings, the same family of finishes used by kitchen factories before doors leave the production line.

Who it's for

Homeowners and landlords across South Wales who have a structurally sound kitchen but a dated, chipped, yellowed or simply unloved finish, and who refuse to pay £15,000-£30,000 to replace what is already perfectly functional.

When you need it

When the layout still works but the doors look tired. When you've just moved in and inherited someone else's taste. When you're preparing to sell and need the kitchen to photograph like a new build. When the gloss has yellowed, the oak has darkened, or the white has gone biscuit.

Why it matters

Because a brush-and-roller repaint will not last in a kitchen. Heat, steam, fingerprints and cleaning products destroy emulsion within months. A professional respray uses pre-catalysed lacquers and 2K polyurethanes that cure to a hard, washable, factory-style film, and it is sprayed, not brushed, so you see no marks.

The cost of getting it wrong

What it costs to put this off, or to get it wrong.

DIY rolling fails within months

Wall paint on cabinet doors stays soft. It chips at the handles, lifts at the edges, marks under a damp cloth, and now you have a worse finish than you started with, plus prep work for the next person.

Replacing costs 6-10× more

A like-for-like new kitchen in South Wales typically runs £12k-£30k once you add appliances, worktops, plumbing and fitting. A respray of the same kitchen is usually a small fraction of that, without the demolition or the two-week microwave dinners.

Cheap sprayers skip the prep

90% of a respray is preparation. A finish sprayed onto greasy, unsanded doors will peel, sometimes within weeks. We degrease, key, fill, prime and inspect every door before any colour goes near it.

Selling? Buyers price down a tired kitchen

Estate agents in Llanelli, Swansea and Cardiff consistently report that a tired kitchen knocks more off the asking price than the cost of refinishing it. A respray pays for itself at the viewing.

How it's done

Inside a proper kitchen respray.

Anyone can buy a spray gun. The reason factory-spec finishes look the way they do is not the colour, it is the system of preparation, primer and topcoat behind it. Here is what actually happens on a South Wales kitchen respray with Elite Refinishing Co.

Variations we cover

  • Shaker kitchen respray (most common in South Wales period properties)
  • Modern slab / handleless kitchen respray
  • Cream / oak kitchens taken to a contemporary white, navy or sage
  • High-gloss kitchens converted to a current matte finish
  • Solid wood kitchens stripped and refinished
  • Foil-wrapped kitchens sprayed without door replacement
  • Island and feature unit colour-blocking
  • Landlord and rental property turnaround respray
  • Commercial / showroom kitchen refinishing

Materials we use

Two-pack (2K) polyurethane lacquers and water-based pre-catalysed primers from premium European brands. These are the same coating chemistries specified by high-end kitchen manufacturers, they bond, they harden, and they survive a sponge full of bleach.

Substrate-specific prep

MDF, solid timber, foil-wrapped, melamine and previously painted doors each need different prep. Foil-wrapped doors must be heat-tested and adhesion-primed; melamine needs a dedicated bonding primer; raw MDF needs edge sealing or the grain telegraphs through. We tailor the system to your kitchen.

Doors off, sprayed in our booth

Wherever possible, doors and drawer fronts are removed, labelled, transported to our spray facility and sprayed under controlled conditions, dust-free, temperature-controlled, properly extracted. Frames and end panels are sprayed on-site with full masking.

Colour, sheen and the small details

We help you choose a sheen that matches how you live: matte hides fingerprints best, satin is the workhorse, gloss looks spectacular but shows everything. We can match an existing colour, pull from a fan deck, or work to a designer's spec.

Refit, inspection and walk-through

Doors are rehung, soft-close hinges adjusted, handles refitted (or new ones drilled and installed), surfaces wiped down, and the kitchen handed back to you with care instructions and your guarantee certificate.
